Set your Emergency Address on your landlines

How to set your Emergency Address on your VoIP Landline telephone numbers.

Traditionally, your emergency address is connected to the physical phone line installed in your premises.

With a cloud-based phone system, you can have a telephone number from any geographical location that we have available. This means you could select a number from an area of the country, where your business is NOT physically located.

Why do you need an address on your VoIP numbers?

When you call the emergency services from any number, they automatically receive information regarding your location so they can connect you to the appropriate emergency service for your area. This location is usually worked out from the caller ID that is used for the call. However, with VoIP calls, you may not physically be in that location.

For this reason, there is the option to add an “Emergency Address” to any number that is added to your VoIP account. This means that when you call the emergency services, this information is used by them as your address rather than just the caller ID. This means can respond as quickly to your query as possible, rather than you having to spend time explaining the location.

To set your emergency address

You can set this up in your account via the VoIP Portal

From the Menu under Account go to Addresses and set your emergency address information.
We automatically assign the billing address that is added to the account as the default emergency address when you sign up.

Any newly purchased numbers are also assigned your default billing address as the emergency address when they’re added to your VoIP account.
