How long for changes to my domain name to take effect?
When you make changes to your Nameservers or your DNS (Domain Name System) on any site, not just on Hightrees DNS portal, changes don’t take effect immediately.
The domain has to update all cached data across the entire World Wide Web, so this can take some time. Although most changes will occur within the first 1-4 hours, dependent on your TTL * settings, it can take up to 48 hours to fully update. (*Time To Live – this is how long a server should cache the DNS query, and how often it will update the cache)
This means if you update the Nameservers or DNS and it hasn’t made any changes or started working instantly, it’s not neccessarily a problem. If you wait a few hours, clear the cache on your browser or try from a browser you don’t use often, you should find everything should be updated.
Of course, if there are still issues after 48 hours, you can contact us, and we can take a look for you.
