A new infected email is doing the rounds from 19th December 2016. The email has a subject line of “Secure Communication” and is pretending to be coming from HM Revenue & Customs, and has a malicious word doc attached, which appears to be the Dridex banking Trojan.
The sending domain is hmrc-secure.co.uk, which was only registered recently to a private individual, is NOT connected to HMRC and the email does not come from their email systems.
Please ensure that your anti-virus software is up to date and that your follow the very basic, but simple rule that you never open any attachment coming via an email, unless you are expecting it !
